Support Group Gallery | Get Involved

We support one another in a caring, safe and friendly environment enabling us to come together and talk openly and honestly. When we respect others and value their contributions, we will gain acceptance and respect from the rest of the world. We will help others, and in turn be helped ourselves.

Our group meets the first Tuesday of every month, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, September to June.

Our next meeting is the evening of Tuesday, December 4 - our Christmas party! We will be going bowling at Belleville Pro Bowl (at the Bayview Mall) at 6:30 PM. We look forward to celebrating with all our group members.

The meeting originally scheduled for October 2nd was held on November 6. This was our first official meeting, and we viewed the first half of "Look At Me", a documentary on FASD by Ryerson's "Pie in the Sky Productions" (our own Tom Wilkinson was featured in the documentary extras).

What We Do || top

• We help to educate our support group about FASD issues
• We provide resources to promote a better understanding of FASD
• We provide advocacy resources to assist our support group members to use this information to assist themselves
• The support group decides the issues to be discussed and assist with determining the direction the group takes
• Workers and volunteers are available to offer information, encouragement, or a listening ear.

• We encourage members to share their strengths, skills, insight, successes and hopes
• We know what we share about our personal lives is confidential
• Each person has the right to decide to take part in the discussion or not
• We share the responsibility for making the group work
• Having benefitted from the help of others, we recognize the need to offer assistance to others in the group
